Today, as I was lounging around my apartment waiting for the side effects of my novocain to wear off (4 hours? Really?), I started making earrings.
I still haven't stopped. I'm not sure I can stop. What's not to love about making earrings? It's not too time-consuming, I can use all of my left-over beads from other projects, and I can do it while watching and re-watching Ed propose to Jillian on the Bachelorette (I know, I know - lame).
Here are some of the little beauties I've made so far... Which are your favs?
Plus, I've decided that all of my earrings are not going to be over $20. What a steal, right? :)
This little gem is oh-so-lovely. It twinkles in the sun, looks fabulous, and matches basically every outfit.
Sparkling lemon quartz crystals and textured oval links encircle the wrist in this glamorous bracelet. Pair it with your favorite pumps for an ultra-chic look.

This little bracelet definitely gave me a few troubles while making it. I loved the lemon quartz from the moment I spotted it, but I was not sure how to best show them off. After wire-wrapping the gems, I connected them to the gorgeous textured oval rings with hard-core jump rings (I nearly lost a finger). I can definitely assure you, the only way this bracelet is coming off your wrist is if you do it purposefully.
I love how the organic textured oval rings complement the cut crystal. The textures are so different, but the size and shape pull it together. The design itself is so simple, but stunning. I love it when jewelry pieces can make a statement without being too gaudy!
I just recently discovered Cafe Handmade - a lovely little blog where every week is a virtual craft show - but without the aching feet and limited parking. It showcases so many different artists and their amazing skills - it can be a little overwhelming.
But, it's the perfect place to spend a few hours browsing around while you watch Jillian on The Bachelorette attempt meaningful conversation.
Every week, you can vote for "Best in Show." Hopefully, Lush Boutique will be up and running on Cafe Handmade soon. I'll keep you posted!
I've gotten a few questions lately about Etsy:What is Etsy? Why is Lush Boutique on Etsy? Is it treatable? Is there a vaccine to prevent the Etsy?
I'll give you the rundown:
Etsy is a website dedicated to all things handmade. Their mission is to help people make a living making things and to, in their words, Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade. They also have sections for vintage shops as well as supplies for crafters.
The Etsy community is worldwide - it boasts buyers and sellers from over 150 countries. Etsy sellers number in the hundreds of thousands, so if you think Lush Boutique is one-in-a-million, you're pretty close :)
Etsy was founded in 2005 and has been featured in literally every business, craft, fashion and political magazine and media outlet. Anyone can sell or buy on Etsy. Etsy takes a percentage of all sales, but it is absolutely free to purchase items on Etsy.
If you are looking for that unique, one-of-a-kind item, go to Etsy. If you can't find it in the stores, you can always request a custom item from any seller there.
I chose to put Lush Boutique on Etsy because it is the ideal locale for my jewelry - buyers who go to Etsy are looking for unique, handcrafted items that are fresh and fabulous.
I love pendants! They are so great for layering and you can wear them with almost any style neckline - crewneck tees, button-up shirts, wrap dresses, scoop necks - they'll prove flattering every time. They also come in a wide variety of styles for every tastes. We are debuting these two pieces this week.
Turquoise Pendant #1
I love the chunky, funky chain. It looks fabulous with just a white tee.
Turquoise Pendant #2
This piece is simple, elegant, and extra-long for a wonderful slimming effect.
What do you think? They are so alike, yet radically different. Which one is your favorite?
Jewelry does so much more than enhance your sense of style and finish an outfit - it can change your mood, give you confidence, and uplift your spirits. We all know the "green" trend is exploding, and the desire to connect to nature is now driving fashion (and jewelry!) to use natural products such as semiprecious stones, shell, and wood.
Vibrant colors from nature are being paired with coppery browns, and metal colors are being combined with natural materials for a more edgy, organic look. Colors inspired by the outdoors are going to be everywhere this fall and winter - look for emeralds, soft lavenders, plums, modern pastels, warm browns and vibrant turquoises.
When jewelry shopping, go for pieces that have a feeling of luxury without the bling - soft pearls, rich semiprecious stones, and exquisitely worked metals. Mix up your look by adding chains and links, and pick pieces that focus on shape and silhouette. As a final tip, layers are still going strong - layer a bulkier piece with a delicate chain and a pendant, and you are ready to work it this fall!
I am so excited about today's new jewelry! Most of these new pieces are not yet being offered in Lush Boutique just quite yet, but we wanted to give you a sneak peak.
